I was just reading a friend's facebook post about calling customer service and getting a foreigner on the line. Her comment actually said that she wished they speak English...
Hold one sec, while I get up here on my soapbox and officially respond...
1. English with an Indian accent is still English.
2. In India, they are taught British English. (Ask them to "schedule" you an appointment)
3. The reason that your calls are routed to a customer service person in India is because they are cheaper. If the call center was in America and open for the same hours as they can operate in India, you would be paying more for your product/service - and probably complaining about that as well.
4. India or America, they are all just reading from a solution manual. There is no additional insight to be gained unless your product or service relies on some American standard that can not be easily translated.
5. You would probably get much worse service from an American.
6. In India, they probably speak English better than you - as in they do it properly. They probably innately know the difference between your/you're, there/they're/their, and to/too/two.
7. There is no official language in the US. English is the most commonly accepted, but nowhere is there a law that says everyone must speak English.
